Interview with Islam Makoyev ahead of the ACB 73 tournament

- The break was due to some minor injuries that I wanted to fix. I didn't do any sports during this period and did not train for the entire time. Now I have recovered I have a plan to try and fight at least three times a year. I have big goals that I’ve set for myself in my career and in order to achieve them, I need to fight more often.

- I do not know why a fight with Alexander Shabliy did not work out. There was an offer from a matchmaker and I immediately agreed to the fight. Later I learned that Shabliy had refused to fight me. I don’t know why he said no, I don’t think he was frightened but he refused so I think that the result of that fight would probably have turned out to be good for me.

- Of course, the belt is my goal and I think I have everything I need to achieve that. I’ve changed a lot in my training process. I became a more professional fighter and I work very hard. I think that with these changes and my hard work I will succeed in getting the belt.

- I myself have never asked for foreign opponents! I don't know why this happens but it just turns out that most of my opponents are foreigners.
I want to fight those who are above me in the rankings and I am ready for any challenge!
