ACB Featherweight, Georgi Karakhanyan, made his ACB debut on May 5th where he defeated Alexey Polpudnikov. Now he's scheduled to fight at ACB 90 on November 10th against yet another "Storm" gym fighter, Timur Nagibin. Georgi has spoken about his upcoming bout, title ambitions, preparation and more.
- Give us your thoughts on the chance to fight at the final ACB event of 2018?
I'm so happy that Mairbek Khasiev and Yaragi Gitaev gave me this opportunity. It's an awesome card. I want to make a great show and of course I'll win. I'm so glad to fight in Moscow it will be my third time there this year.
- Your opponent said that he's planning to beat you which would lead him to the title shot, what can you say on that?
Timur can say whatever he wants. He's a fighter, he's supposed to say these things to believe he can win. He's just another opponent for me. On November 10th I'm fighting Timur and I can beat him the same way I beat Polpudnikov if I want. I have a few tricks to make a great show for the fans and I want to get the title next year and also to fight Mukhamed Kokov or Marat Balaev.
- What do you think of Nagibin's skill set and his fighting style?
I've seen his fights. He fights just like Alexey Polpudnikov. Good boxing, terrible wrestling. But he's a dangerous fighter and I like this. I'm not focusing on what he's going to do at all. I'm focusing on what I'm going to do. I fought some very tough guys. Who has he fought? He was fighting in M-1 where he fought for a title but lost. It will be an exciting fight, but I'm too good for him. He's not on my level.
- How is your preparation going?
The preparation is going well. I'm training very hard at tREIGNing Lab. I'm sparring with guys like TJ Dillashaw, Cub Swanson, Juan Archuleta, Saad Awad and others. We have a lot of high level guys here. They're all helping me in my preparation. People will see me in great shape at ACB 90. Everyone thinks that I'll fight Timur the same way I fought Alexey, but who knows. Maybe I'll knock him out.
