ACB 67: Magomed Magomedov - Dean Garnett, a preview

The bantamweight opposition will be one of the fights of the main card at the ACB 67 tournament: the former champion Magomed "Tiger" Magomedov (13-2 MMA, 4-1 ACB) will test Dean Garnett (8-0-1 MMA; 1-0 ACB), the prospect from England.

Magomed Magomedov has a huge amount of experience in martial arts under his belt. He has competed a lot both among amateurs and professionals. Magomed Magomedov is the former ACB bantamweight champion. In his professional career he has faced many top-ranked fighters. In a truly uncompromising confrontation "Tiger" won the bantamweight belt at the ACB 32. He has defended his title once and caught Oleg Borisov with a guillotine choke at the ACB 50. And, in an equally uncompromising battle at the ACB 57, in the rematch with Petr Yan, he lost this trophy. Now Magomed has a chance to redeem himself after the defeat. He will fight Dean Garnett. Magomed is a versatile fighter. He perfectly combines striking skills with wrestling. Depending on an opponent Magomed often adjusts and fights in the necessary style. He uses classic boxing, spectacular kicks, does amplitude takedowns. That is why the ratio of victories by knockouts and submissions in his record is almost equal: Magomed has knocked out his opponents 4 times and won 5 times with techniques.

It's safe to say that this will be a serious test for Dean Garnett, who, according to many, has not yet met a serious opposition.

In his debut match in ACB Dean spectacularly dealt with Michael Tobin, knocking him out in a little more than a round. In that fight Dean showed excellent striking skills. He was constantly pressing, clamping his opponent near the cage, throwing series of punches. It should be noted that this is the first knockout in the Englishman’s career. Despite the fact that Dean Garnett demonstrated excellent striking skills, he got most of his victories by painful holds. So the Briton can also be called a versatile fighter. In general, Dean Garnett’s style is in many ways similar to the style of the champion - Petr Yan. Both fighters are distinguished by brilliant grappling, variety of attacks and constant pressure.
At the ACB 67 we are going to see a bout with the fighter of a champion's caliber who has often found himself in difficult situations and has extended experience. And the prospect who is only paving his way to the top and is going to make a statement with this performance.

Both fighters have something to prove. At the moment, Dean Garnett is not even included in the ratings of the league, and a victory in this confrontation can immediately bring him to the title fight. In a battle with such opposition Magomed Magomedov is risking a lot. A defeat will throw him away from the title fight. But in case of victory, he will become one of the contenders for the belt.

Who will be the winner in this confrontation: the prospect who was matched with the top fighter or the former champion, who desperately needs to return to the victory track? We will find it out at the ACB 67 tournament in Grozny on August 19.
