The former ACB welterweight champion Mukhamed Berkhamov has spoken about his recovery process after knee surgery and more.

 - How was the surgery and how soon you will be able to get back to fighting

The surgery went great. Now I’m slowly recovering. I’ve already started training a little bit, some light rolling without putting any pressure on my knee. It was a serious surgery so recovery will take a while. Doctors are saying that I’m recovering very well though, so hopefully I’ll be able to get back to training.

- Give us your thoughts on Albert Tumenov’s performance at ACB 89?

I saw this fight live. I don’t care who they hand the belt to. The most important thing for me is that I didn’t lose it to anyone. I can’t wait to get back in there and show what I’m capable of.

I wasn’t impressed with his performance what so ever. His opponent stepped in on a two weeks notice and was able to give Albert, who was preparing for months, a though fight. Nothing surprising, just his regular performance. Nothing new.

- How badly do you want to get back in the cage?

I’m watching all the fights. Now I gained some weight. I wasn’t able to move that much because of the injury, so I gained some fat and lost some muscle mass. I’m not happy about it, and it motivates me to get back in shape.

Injuries are a part of our sport. You shouldn’t be discouraged because of them. I’m not listening to what other people say, I’m focused on myself. My friends and family support me a lot. This is why I don’t think about the injury. I’m focused on my recovery and on getting back in the cage as soon as possible.
